Dave Donaldson is an editorial, documentary and commercial photographer and filmmaker based in the Shetland Islands  one of the most visually dramatic and remote locations in the UK.

 

With experience working across news, documentary, corporate and landscape photography, Dave brings deep local knowledge and professional editorial standards to every commission. His work has been published and broadcast by some of the UK's most respected names, including the BBC News, The Guardian, The Observer, the Financial Times, ITV Studios and Channel 5.

 

Based in Shetland , Dave is equally at home covering breaking news, producing long-form documentary content, or creating commercial imagery for major brands and public sector organisations. Clients have included DFDS, SSE Renewables, Savills, Lerwick Port Authority and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

 

Film and documentary production is an increasingly important part of Dave's work. With a background in editorial storytelling and a growing portfolio of short film and documentary projects  including work with SSE Renewables, CH5, Solo Films and ITV Studios.Dave brings a photographer's eye and a journalist's instinct to every moving image project.

 

Beyond stills, Dave is a CAA qualified drone operator offering aerial photography and cinematography across Shetland and Scotland. His deep knowledge of Shetland's locations, logistics and communities makes him a natural choice for location scouting and recce work for productions considering the islands. He is also available for unit stills and behind the scenes photography on set.
